My Approach

Emotion-Focused

My approach is rooted in emotion-focused therapy (EFT), which honors emotions as important signals worthy of attention. In therapy, we approach emotional reactions with curiosity, compassion, and care. The process of healing occurs when emotions can be experienced and moved through.

Non-Shaming & Non-Blaming

In therapy, we understand that most behavior makes sense within the context it is occurring. On a relational level, this means that we can understand the actions of our family members, friends, and loved ones as understandable outcomes within the context of their lives. On an individual level, we can understand our own behavior as being rooted in a biological urge to get our needs met. As a therapist, I understand that behavior and actions make sense in context -- therefore, shaming and blaming are out the window. Instead, curiosity and a desire to understand form the basis of my work with clients.

Anti-Racist

Anti-racism principles are a big part of my work inside and outside the therapy room. An honest understanding of United States history reveals the experience of people of color in this country has been marked by terror, violence, and mistreatment. In addition to reckoning with this gruesome legacy of racism, in the present moment, people of color continue to face ongoing marginalization on an individual and systemic level. As a white therapist, I know I will never fully understand this lived experience. However, it is my intention in therapy to create a space where my clients of all racial and ethnic identities feel safe to show up as their full selves.

Virtual & In-Person

I offer sessions in-person and virtually, In-person sessions are conducted at the Process Wellness Collective office in Irvine, California. Virtual sessions are conducted via Simple Practice, a secure telehealth platform.
